Rx-360 to present at CPhI


Rx-360 has announced its presence at CPhI Worldwide which is set to take place in Madrid from October 9 to 11, 2012. Rx-360 will be present as follows:

  • A booth provided by the CPhI organizers, UBM Live
  • A Q&A Session on Wednesday, October 10

Objectives of Session

Rx-360 is hosting a complimentary open session at CPhI.  The objectives of the session are several, including (i) to hear from Senior VPs of Quality, Chief Purchasing Officers, and other senior procurement professionals regarding the unique benefits of Rx-360 membership, (ii) to understand how Rx-360 audit programs can become an important aspect of your company’s supplier qualification program, and (iii) to receive an update on all Rx-360 initiatives, including its regulatory affairs work, supply chain security efforts, its reporting and monitoring deliverables and the joint and share audit programs.

The open informational session will facilitate one-on-one conversations with a number of Rx-360 representatives from a range of Rx-360 initiatives. Individuals from the Rx-360 Board and Rx-360 Working Groups will be available in an informal setting to discuss initiatives, including goals, progress and opportunities.
This is the ideal setting for those interested in learning more about Rx-360 initiatives directly from the leaders of these initiatives.

Guy Villax

Guy Villax has been the Chief Executive Officer of Hovione since 1997. Prior to that, he held positions with Price Waterhouse in London and Hovione in the Far East. He has a degree in Accounting and Financial Management from the University College at Buckingham. He is a member of the Board of CEFIC’s European Fine Chemicals Group and Rx-360.

Current Rx-360 Chair

Lynne Byers has worked in quality operations of the pharmaceutical industry for more than 30 years, both as a regulator and within industry.  She is a chartered chemist and is eligible to act as a Qualified Person.  Her current role is as VP, Quality Shared Services at GSK where she is responsible for global shared services for supplier quality assurance, central laboratories and global computer validation.  She is also chair of Rx-360, a global industry consortium and she is speaking today on behalf of Rx-360.

Kim Cauchy
Mylan, Vice President, Global Sourcing

Kim Cauchy is Vice President of Global Sourcing for Mylan and has global responsibility for strategic sourcing and procurement of active pharmaceutical ingredients.  Previous to working at Mylan, Kim held director level global sourcing roles at Hospira and Perrigo.  Prior to his over twenty years of procurement experience, he held various roles within the quality department at Perrigo and was a certified quality auditor.  He holds a BS degree in Pharmaceutical Services from Nazareth College.  He is a two time past board member of the Drug, Chemical and Associated Technologies Association.
Martin VanTrieste

Martin VanTrieste is the senior vice president of Quality at Amgen and is responsible for all aspects of Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Compliance, Environment, Health and Safety along with Training.
Prior to joining Amgen, VanTrieste was with Bayer HealthCare’s Biological Products Division as vice president of Worldwide Quality and Abbott Laboratories as the vice president of Quality Assurance for the Hospital Products Division (now known as Hospira). While at Abbott, VanTrieste held various positions in Quality, Operations, and Research and Development. He started his career at Abbott in 1983 after obtaining his Pharmacy degree from Temple University School of Pharmacy.

VanTrieste has been actively involved with various professional and trade organizations, including United States Pharmacopeia (USP), Pharmaceutical Quality Research Institute (PQRI), Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), and AdvaMed, and he is a member of the Board of Directors of the Parenteral Drug Associations (PDA).  He is the founder and first Chairman of Rx-360 and is currently on their Board of Directors.  Rx-360 is a nonprofit international supply chain organization that will enhance patient safety by increasing the security and quality of all parts of the supply chain.

Stefan Winghardt served as the head of the Global Purchasing Department of Ratiopharm Group from 2007 until it was acquired by Teva in August 2010.  Since then, he has served Teva as its head of EU Purchasing.
Bill DuBay
AMPAC Fine Chemicals, Vice President Technology

Bill DuBay is the VP of Research and Development for AMPAC Fine Chemicals.  He has been with AFC since 2006.  Prior to that he has held positions with DSM and Wyckoff.  He has a PhD in organic chemistry from the University of South Carolina and also did post-doctoral studies at Indiana University.

Abbott Laboratories, Division Vice President Purchasing

 Terry Simmons is vice president, Global Purchasing Supplier Management for Abbott Laboratories, (As of 1/12013  He assume these duties for AbbVie, a new company separating from Abbott).

Mr. Simmons has an extensive background in total procurement and supplier management, including experience with both domestic and international purchasing.  He re-joined Abbott in 2012 from Baxter, where for five years he was vice president of Global Purchasing.  During his prior tenure with Baxter, Mr. Simmons served as vice president, Purchasing and Real Estate at Hospira Inc.  He has held positions of increasing responsibility in procurement, administration, and sales with McDonald’s Corporation, Abbott Laboratories,
Mr. Simmons received his bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Minnesota.  He is an active member of the National Association of Purchasing Managers and the AMA Purchasing and Supply Chain council as well as collegiate affiliations in Illinois and Minnesota.
Brian Johnson
Pfizer, Senior Director, Supply Chain Security

Brian Johnson is the Sr. Director Supply Chain Security at Pfizer.  He is responsible for Pfizer’s corporate supply chain security program.  This program was developed to combat growing supply chain threats related to product theft, product diversion, economic adulteration, and counterfeit goods. 
Brian has been with Pfizer for 29 years and has held a number of leadership positions in manufacturing and quality assurance.  He started in the Kalamazoo manufacturing plant and held various QA leadership positions supporting sterile manufacturing.  In 2000 Brian was appointed Sr. Director Quality Assurance Global External Supply responsible for global contract manufacturing.  Brian also relocated to Brussels Belgium in 2000 where he added QA responsibility for several manufacturing plants in Europe.  Brian returned to New Jersey in 2003 to lead the America’s Contract Manufacturing QA organization until moving into his current role in 2010. 
Brian has been actively involved in a number of external professional/trade organizations working on supply chain security initiatives including PhRMA, ISPE, PDA, and Rx-360.  Brian is currently on the Board of Directors for Rx-360 and is co-leading the Rx-360 Supply Chain Security Workgroup.  He has a Bachelor of Science degree from Central Michigan University.
