Eric Berg
Eric’s career in biopharmaceuticals spans 25+ years and includes various roles within Amgen Operations including Quality, Manufacturing, and Project Management.
Currently he is Director of QA based at Amgen, Thousand Oaks where he is responsible for commercial and clinical Drug Substance manufacturing and QA oversight of commissioning, qualification, and validation for site GMP equipment and facility projects. Prior to this he served for 5 years at Amgen’s Dun Laogharie, Ireland site as the Quality lead for a site expansion project which included construction, commissioning, and start-up of a new syringe filling and packaging plant followed by serving as QA lead for commercial plant QA, incoming QA, and Quality Systems.
Eric started his career in Clinical Manufacturing and Commercial Manufacturing where he was a Manufacturing Associate and Supervisor. While in manufacturing, he contributed to two GMP facility start-ups, 20+ new product introductions, and hundreds of GMP batches. He served as an Operations Project Manager on business process related projects such as Disposition Alignment and GMP Documentation Simplification. He provided Project Management leadership while in a staff role to the Global Quality VP and in a role as Corporate Quality PMO lead.
Eric’s project management and leadership skills and experience led to his role as Supplier Quality Management lead where he served for 7 years during a time of significant transformation of supplier management processes at Amgen and supply chain security across the industry. While in SQM he represented Amgen as a public speaker at 20+ industry conferences with PDA, IPEC Americas, and Rx-360 and served as founding co-chair of the Supplier Quality Discussion Group. He has previously served on PDA conference organizing committees, the IPEC-Americas executive committee, and as an Rx-360 volunteer.
Eric’s holds an undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences from California Lutheran University, became a certified PMP through Project Management International, and has developed his professional skills and knowledge via studies at the Deming Institute, Aikiworks with Tom Crum, and through PDA and other industry related training courses.
